Services I Provide

I offer both short- term counselling and more long-term, in- depth psychotherapy. Counselling concentrates more on the here- and -now, whereas psychotherapy will also look at your past and consider root causes of psychological distress as well as subconscious and conscious behaviours, including defence mechanisms. In practice, I actually use a combination of both, but it all depends on what you are hoping to achieve from the process and what you are comfortable with. This can be discussed with you before and during treatment.

I can help with life -changing events, trauma, anxiety, low mood, low self -esteem, burn out, work stress, bereavement and relationship issues. You may feel overwhelmed by your emotions, or want to understand your thoughts and behaviours. Or, you might be searching for purpose in your life. Through therapy I can help you gain clarity , perspective, and direction. I can help you improve your relationship with yourself and others, and help manage distress caused by events from your past.

I will help you cultivate inner resources and build resilience so you don’t have to face life’s challenges alone. In therapy, we will explore how you think, feel, and relate to yourself and others. This process of self- awareness can lead to increased resilience, insight, and internal strength to better manage your distress. Through my work with you I will help you develop self- reliance, agency, and autonomy, and equip you with a skillset so you can transform your life and become the best version of yourself.

Building Resilience

A Holistic Approach

I believe everyone deserves a safe space to be heard, understood, and respected. I offer a holistic approach that acknowledges and honours your past experiences, but also embraces the present moment, and offers practical real -world strategies to suit your lifestyle. My work with you involves seeing you as a complete human being; one who is not defined by problems or struggles you are going through. You are more than the sum of your life experiences and challenges. I can help you see your true self-worth, and value, and not seek validation from others.

How I deliver therapy

I offer long-term and short term, face- to- face in- person counselling and psychotherapy. This would take place at HealthWise Leeds Therapy Centre in Chapel Allerton, North Leeds. I also offer online therapy using Zoom and other platforms. I can even offer phone therapy for those clients who prefer that.

Sessions typically last 50 minutes and would normally take place once a week at the same time and on the same day to establish a familiar routine.

The first few sessions are vital in establishing the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist which is the foundation for effective work to take place, with positive outcomes. Thereafter, the frequency of sessions can be discussed to suit your requirements and availability.
